The Goal...

The dream has been relatively consistent for the past few decades of the space program; every program NASA, SpaceX, etc. involves creating manned vehicles that can reach orbit, return to earth, and then be refurbished and reused.

The ACCord has defined its mission.  The HAB ACCord will launch on May 25, 2018 from Atlanta GA at Georgia Tech University and fly to a height of approximately 180,000 feet.  The balloon will eventually burst and send the payload back to Earth.

We are aiming to do several things during the flight.
First our students will design a vehicle that will have a controlled ascent and descent that will take it from Atlanta on a path to Clemson, SC 130 miles away.

Second, it will reach a height where cameras can show the curvature of the earth.

Third (in process) it will be inspected and prepared for a second launch.  With a 24 hour turn around time, it will be refurbished and prepared for a trip from Clemson University to the University of South Carolina and beyond.

The idea is simple...Learn, inspire, and grow.
